Help I am window treatment challenged!

I am not sure what is the best window treatment for eliminating all light in bedrooms. One bedroom also has a sliding glass door too. Because of allergies I have been looking at vinyl roller blinds with the clutch system but the light still does come in through the sides no matter if you install them inside or outside the sill. The same is true even for those routless blinds. Drapes typically catch dust and can be a real breeding ground for mold and dust mites which we have to avoid. (no I am not willing to wash them weekly). Has someone figured out a good window treatment that keeps light out and is not a dust and mold collector? Perhaps a vinyl roller shade with a another window treatment also made of vinyl that has some style to it. Of some sort of tracking on the sides of the windows to keep the shade from leaking light. My windows are new white vinyl windows 4' x 4' with grids and the slider is 6' wide white vinyl. We haven't yet trimmed out the windows so we are pretty flexible and are willing to consider all sorts of out of the box ideas. I don't have to worry about blocking out neighbors during the day and like to let the sun in during the day but need to be able to block all light out when necessary. Thanks for any insights you may be able to provide. P.S. I don't know how to sew nor do I own a sewing machine but I could ask a friend to help if needed.
