Yes I put a pelmet board up, 20mm thick and normally 15 - 23cm depth. I paint the board the same colour as the wall or you could cover it with fabric. I staple the velcro on to edge the board and the top of the pelmet (too hard to try and sew it on). I also sand all the edges of the MDF especially at the returns where it bends round... chamfers the edges and makes it nice and neat. I use duck tape or similar to join the returns to the main part of the pelmet or you could stick strips of fabric to both sides of the join. I also attach the curtain rail to the pelmet board. I make the pelmet board about about 5cm longer the track. Hope this helps. I'm not the best person at explaining things!
