Louise, Personally I would join the upper colour to the gold bottom first a width at a time first,then join the widths together as you would if it was one conitinuous length of the same material.Ensuring that you iron the joining seam allowance out flat to minimise bulk on the joins when folding back the 2" allowance on the length before attaching the lining Then continue to make them as you would do any other curtain. Velvet should run smooth from top to bottom,if it were the other way it would be a dust collection haven. Please ensure that all the widths and 45 cm bottoms run the same way before sewing it all together else it will look patchy. Hope this helps...Jean
