This shouldn't be too complicated. Work out how much larger they need to be, and take a look at one of the pleats to see how much fabric is in one pleat. With this info you can work out how much extra width you need in the curtains, and whether you can unpick each pleat and re-make into smaller triple pleats. If there is not enough fabric to make new triple pleats, you should be able to make double pleats instead which are becoming increasingly popular. The space to make a triple pleat needs to be around 15-17cm but perhaps you could unpick one pleat and have a practice at folding it and see what you think looks best.
